Part Two of the Rodent Wars;

ok where did we get up to, not far I suspect; I have been out there again today, I got brave today & this time I started going though the items I had put to one side, these were taken out of the “shoffice” when I first noticed I had visitors, seven weeks ago, the rodents had done a through job on these & appeared to be the first causality’s, i had left them to one side as I was a bit scared to look through them at first, as there seemed to be a lot of damage…

I was not wrong in surmising about the damage, just by looking at the pile of books & paperwork, without going through & accessing the damage I could see I was going to lose a large part of forty years worth of work, amongst the damage caused to books, paperwork, artwork [line drawing of Artefacts etc…] personal notes of Detecting trips & Treasure hunting outings and the older 35mm photos, negitives & archives etc.. not to mention well over a 80% of the Treasure Hunting & Searcher magazines, along with the other magazines, it was this area which seemed to have been there base, I am still puzzled by the lack of evidence until they were rumbled, then they seemed not to care, and the evidence was seen on a daily bases, as a side note, I was putting the newer magazines into proper folders, the ones supplied from the magazines them selves, so at the moment half of 2017 and all of 2018 are still in the dining room, otherwise they would have had to go as well [as I am writing this I am feeling very sad and upset & not feeling very amicable to the mice community] it has been very soul destroying, throwing out so much of my life; so I have left it as it is, till later, & so I then went back to cleaning the hard surfaces & salvaging what I could in the “shofficce”…

After the above episode I did not think it could get much worse, but as I get further into other parts of the “shoffice” there is more and more evidence and damage, today I am throwing out cameras covered in urine & poo, which has seeped into the cameras, luckily I keep the SD Cards separate and in there own protected case, and double lucky they too were in the dining room, as I had been using the smaller cameras for work…

Headphones, well the Grey-Ghost headphones have succumb as have two other Philips  full-cup headphones, Joan Allen set & a set of Predator headphones, all were good and tucked into a cardboard box with silica gel, the silica bags have been eaten, with no side effects what so ever to the mice, it looks like this was a meeting room, as the amount of visible urine stains and the amount of poo leads me to believe they used the box an awful lot, the last time I was in the box was in April, cleaning the headphones, so they have destroyed the content of the box within six to eight weeks…

One 8″ DD coil for a Tesoro has fallen victim with a totally chewed cable, this I don’t understand, as all of the coils hang on the walls, for ease of access, this DD was in the middle ! why did this get chosen? its beyond me…all of the other coils have not been tested but visually look ok…fingers crossed…

Three of the working detectors are going, one is the Fisher CZ5, a C-Scope 1220b & then the B1 Hi Power, ive cleaned them up “but” well they were covered in poo & stacked near the headphone box, two of the detectors were off there stems, as they were going to be sent away to be cleaned internally, now they are going to a friend who wants them, I told him of there condition, and he has seen them, before being cleaned, still its better than being thrown away, I suppose; – also as I write this my original Silver Sabre from 1986, & 1978 Arado 120 are going as well, might as well get rid of them, as it seems to be the time to have a cull…

Digging tools, have been immersed in a bath of Jeyes Fluid, or should I say they still are…

Waterproof Jacket & Trousers, cold weather coat, detecting boots, over trousers, hats, gloves and everything like that – gone; –  ive binned the lot, cannot be bothered to check, as I use them all of the time and would never feel comfortable wearing them again, so gone…
